This is the Introduction to the Florida Journal of Law and Public Policy's 2024 Symposium Issue on the Uniform Restrictive Agreement Act. It traces the Uniform Law Commission's drafting process and considers the Act’s significance in the context of other legislative and administrative efforts to limit worker mobility restraints. In particular, it examines the Federal Trade Commission's 2023 ban on employee noncompetes and explores the future role of state law in response to that deeply contested agency effort. The Introduction also provides an overview of the symposium, which features papers from expert academics and practitioners.
